December 7, 2012 – Tropical Tablelands Tourism (TTT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Bronwyn Cant to the newly created role of executive officer.
A motion was passed at the local tourism organisation’s annual general meeting this week (December 4) to appoint Ms Cant in the important role. This is the first time in TTT’s history that it has had an executive officer in place.
Member for Barron River and chair Michael Trout said he couldn’t think of anyone more deserving to fill this position. Ms Cant has worked with TTT for six years managing the day-to-day operations, as well as implementing effective governance policies and procedures, strategic planning reviews and taking on many of the tasks required of an executive officer already.
“What Ms Cant has helped us achieve during her time with TTT has been outstanding. With membership now at an all time high it is time for us to take that next step as an organisation. “There are a number of exciting developments underway and with Ms Cant in place, TTT will be in the strongest position it has ever been to leverage these and continue its work to establish the Tablelands as a destination in its own right.”
At the meeting, TTT also welcomed Michael Lawrence as a special interest director and Rob Matthews as the northern region representative to the board and confirmed the reappointment of Michael Trout to chairman, Patrice Fletcher to vice-chair and Ms Cant as a non-director, non-voting secretary and treasurer.
Mr Trout also stepped down from his position of northern region director to take on a special interest director role while Michelle Bell Turner was re-elected to the position of southern region director. Mr Trout said despite the current slowdown, tourism on the Tablelands was still in a strong position. “Our membership base is at an all time high and I would like to thank Tablelands Regional Council for their continued support.”
Describing 2011/2012 as a year of achievement, Trout affirmed TTT’s decision to appoint Pinnacle Marketing to manage the organisations domestic and international wholesale distribution channels. “What Pinnacle Marketing were able to get done in just one year is incredible.”
Highlights include a new website, which is not only a site for source information but also a booking portal for accommodation and attractions, winning the 2011 Cairns Show best booth, winning the 2011 Tropical North Queensland Tourism Awards tourism marketing category, a strong presence at the Australian Tourism Expo and most recently the development of the Drive North Queensland smart phone app.
“I would also like to thank our members as well as those that have served on the board in 2011/12 – Mike Took, Neil McGilp, Doug Wilson, Marc Sleeman, Patrice Fletcher, Rhonda Sorensen, Cr Rod Marti, Jim Russell, Michelle Bell Turner, Melanie van Haaren and Bram Collins and I welcome the two newest directors for another outstanding year.”
