A unique campaign that will take the Atherton Tablelands “to the road” will kick off at Tolga Woodworks today, April 19, coinciding with the launch of Tropical Tablelands Tourism’s (TTT) Discover visitor guide.
TTT chair Michael Trout said the 25 square metre mobile billboard promoting the Atherton Tablelands would certainly draw attention as it travelled the east coast of Australia before heading inland via Broken Hill on its way home, promoting the destination as it goes.
“It certainly stands out and that is exactly what we were hoping to achieve,” he added.
Mr Trout said the mobile billboard would complement Discover, the official visitor guide for the destination, with its drivers Mark and Maree Wharton distributing the colourful 52-page information brochure along the way.
“Departing this month and returning in December 2017, they will be stopping at popular grey nomad caravan parks and other designated camping spots, showcasing the Atherton Tablelands along the way.”
Discover offers the latest travel information on places to go and things to do across the Atherton Tablelands and its gateways of the Cassowary Coast, Port Douglas, Cairns and the Gulf Savannah.
This year 110,000 copies will find their way as far afield as Cooktown, Mackay, Karumba, Mt Isa and Barcaldine, to consumer travel shows across Australia and internationally as well as visitor information centres throughout the region.
It will also be distributed internationally to key self-drive markets such as New Zealand, the US and Canada and throughout Europe.
Distribution is further extended through an interactive online platform, which saw the publication downloaded more than 100,000 in 2016 and a smart phone app for both iPhone and Android.
