Gumtree on Gillies B&B is the perfect place for a secluded, romantic getaway or some well earned R&R! It is also a tranquil base for exploring the stunning Atherton Tablelands We are located at RN 4460 Gillies Highway, just outside the village of Yungaburra on the road to Atherton in a quiet and tranquil spot set far back from the road. We are on 40 acres rural property with 10 acres of landscaped gardens. An adventourous walk across our paddock and across the suspension bridge across Peterson Creek takes you to town in about 10-15 minutes, with the chance to spot tree kangaroos (occasionally), platypus (mostly) and turtles (mostly). Walk along Peterson Creek to Frawley's pool, the local swimming whole, and on to the old railway bridge. You can walk back into Yungaburra on the old railway track.
Our rooms include private entrances and courtyards, very comfortable king or queen size beds, private double spa baths, reverse cycle air-conditioning, electric blankets, TV and DVD players, fridge and coffee/tea making facilities. One of our rooms is fully self-contained. The Egyptian room does not have air conditioning, but has louvres and doors and windows to let the cool Tablelands air in. Cobbold Gorge is unique, hidden away within the rugged sandstone formations of North Queensland. This gorge is extremely narrow, closing to a mere two meters wide in places, with spectacular 30 meter cliffs on either side. The overall length of the gorge is about six kilometres and consists of a series of water-holes and rock falls, however only the last 500 meters is accessible by flat bottom boat. Access to Cobbold Gorge is by Guided Tour Only.
Two Cobbold Gorge tours operate daily from the village and range from pure relaxation to soft adventure, or experience the sheer excitement of a helicopter flight over the property. To cruise through this gorge is an awesome and unforgettable experience.
