Mamu Rainforest Canopy Walkway

In scenic heart of the Wet Tropics, between Innisfail and Millaa Millaa, visitors can experience pristine rainforest, in comfort and safety, on a state-of-the-art walkway and observation tower that winds from ground level to above the tree tops and offers spectacular rainforest views.
An elevated walkway winds through the rainforest along the edge of the breathtaking river gorge offering close-up viewing of the amazing diversity of rainforest plants, insects and birds. The springboard cantilever offers views over the picturesque North Johnston River while the observation tower provides sweeping vistas over the rugged rainforest-clad landscape. Along the way, informative signs tell of the rainforest’s complex web of life and the rich culture and history of the area, including stories from the Aboriginal Traditional Owners, the Mamu people.
Directions: The Mamu Rainforest Canopy Walkway is open 7 days, 9.30am to 5.30pm (last entry 4.30pm). It is located mid-way between Millaa Millaa and Innisfail on the Palmerston Highway. Drive times: from Atherton¬–50 mins; from Cairns–1.5 hrs; and from Innisfail–30 mins. Access is possible by conventional vehicle; all roads are sealed and ample parking is available at the walkway for caravans and long vehicles as well as conventional vehicles.
