Featuring spectacular limestone caves, small galleries of Aboriginal rock art, jagged limestone outcrops and an historically significant mining site, this park is rich in natural and cultural heritage.
The Great Wheelbarrow Race
The Great Wheelbarrow Race is a 3 stage team relay event in May where competitors push a wheelbarrow from Mareeba to Dimbulah to Almaden to Chillageo along the Wheelbarrow Highway. Teams can have two to ten members, but they must all be able to fit legally in a single vehicle along with a race marshall. There is also a solo category for individual runners.
