Herberton Walking Trails commence from the Herberton Mining Museum and Visitor Information Centre.
The trails vary from 1km easy to 12km moderate to difficult. Trails range from shorter walks that showcase the heritage buildings of Herberton to intermediate length walks that include the river and the closer hills. Longer walks go deep into the rugged ranges. Over-night treks can be arranged with local guides.
Great Northern Mine Walk – 1.0 km easy grade, less than 1 hour walking time
Macleod Street Trail – 2.1 km easy to moderate, allow approximately 1 hour walking time
Magazine Road Escape Trail – 3.4 km moderate grade, allow approximately 1.5 hours walking time
Mount Ida Firetrail – 5.7 km steep trail, graded difficult. Allow 2.5 hours walking time
Denbigh Road Trail – 3.0 km moderate grade, allow approximately 1.5 hours walking time
Southern Firetrail – 6.0 km moderate grade, allow 3 hours walking time
Stewart Head Trail – 12 km trail, graded moderate to difficult. Allow all day to enjoy this adventure.
